Hotel sheet sizes by country
Quick answer: hotel sheet sizes depend on the mattress, not the bed name. A US queen hotel flat sheet is usually 90 x 115 inches and a queen fitted sheet 60 x 80 with a 12 to 15 inch pocket. UK and European hotels use metric mattresses, so a UK king is 150 x 200 cm and a European king 180 x 200 cm. Measure width, length and depth, then size the sheet from those three numbers.

Sizes vary slightly between mattress brands and countries, so always confirm the dimensions of the mattresses in your rooms.
How to size a hotel flat sheet
A hotel flat sheet must cover the mattress top and sides and leave enough at the foot to tuck and at the head to fold over the blanket. A simple rule:
- Width = mattress width + 2 x mattress depth + about 6 inches.
- Length = mattress length + 2 x mattress depth + about 10 inches for the tuck and turn-down.
Example: a US queen mattress 60 x 80 inches and 12 inches deep needs a flat sheet of about 90 x 115 inches, which is the standard hotel queen size.

Fitted sheet pocket depth
Choose a pocket 1 to 2 inches deeper than the mattress so the corners hold through repeated washing and shrinkage. Standard hotel mattresses take a 12 inch pocket; pillow-top and mattresses with toppers need 15 inches.
Sizes for UK, European and Australian hotels
Hotels outside North America usually order sheets cut to their metric mattresses. Apply the same flat sheet rule in centimetres: mattress width plus twice the depth plus about 15 cm, and mattress length plus twice the depth plus about 25 cm. Are UK king and US king the same size?
No. A UK king mattress is 150 x 200 cm, about 59 x 79 inches, close to a US queen. A UK super king is 180 x 200 cm.
How much do hotel sheets shrink?
Cotton and polycotton sheets can shrink a few percent in the first commercial washes. We allow for shrinkage in the cut sizes and confirm it on pre-production samples.
