Patient gowns for every ward, made in our own units

Patient gowns, also called hospital gowns or medical gowns, are the garments patients wear during examination, treatment and recovery. International Linens cuts and stitches reusable patient gowns in bulk for hospital groups, healthcare distributors and laundry services, from fabric woven and finished in its own units in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

A good hospital gown has to do several jobs at once: give clinicians access, preserve the patient’s dignity, fit a wide range of bodies, and come back from the laundry looking the same after hot washing and bleach. We have made institutional textiles since 2004, and every style below is built around those four requirements.

Types of patient gowns we make

Style What it is for
Standard tie-back gown General wards and examination. Back opening with neck and waist ties, three-quarter sleeves.
IV gown with snap sleeves Patients on drips or monitors. Snap-open sleeves let staff change the gown without removing IV lines.
Telemetry gown Cardiac and step-down units. A chest pocket holds the telemetry transmitter; snap sleeves for leads.
Bariatric gown Full-coverage gowns in 3XL, 5XL and 10XL with longer ties and wider wrap.
Lapover and double lapover gown Overlapping back panels for modesty on wards and in transport.
Mammogram and exam gown Front-opening or cape style for imaging and outpatient clinics.
Behavioral health gown Tear-resistant construction with adjustable straps and no removable ties.
Hyperbaric gown 100% cotton, no synthetic fibres, for hyperbaric chambers.
Pediatric gowns and pants Child, toddler and infant sizes with prints. See pediatric apparel.

Matching patient pajamas and pants, pajama shorts and clothing protectors are made in the same fabrics, and isolation gowns and lab coats for staff are in the patient apparel collection.

What our hospital gowns are made of

Most reusable patient gowns are a 55% cotton / 45% polyester blend, which is soft against the skin, breathable, and survives repeated institutional laundering without shrinking or greying. We also make 100% cotton gowns for hyperbaric and sensitive-skin programs and 100% polyester gowns where fast drying and print durability matter most. Bleaching and finishing are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, the strictest class in the standard, so the fabric has been tested for harmful substances at the limit set for baby articles.

Sizes and fit

Standard gowns are cut as one-size-fits-most, with generous wrap so they work for men and women alike. Bariatric patient gowns are graded to 3XL, 5XL and 10XL, and pediatric gowns run from infant to child large. Sleeve length, gown length and tie positions are made to your program, and we keep your approved pattern on file so repeat orders match.

Colours, prints and department coding

Many hospitals use gown colour to signal a department or a patient status, which is why blue, printed and dyed gowns are as common as white. We supply solid colours, blue and yellow stripe fabrics, and printed designs, and can develop an exclusive print for a hospital group. Colour-fastness is checked so prints look the same after hot washing.

Closures and design details

  • Tie-back with double-stitched, bar-tacked neck and waist ties, or overlapping lapover panels.
  • Snap sleeves on IV and telemetry styles, with rust-proof snaps that survive tunnel washers.
  • Adjustable straps and reinforced seams on behavioral health gowns.
  • Front or back opening to suit the procedure.
  • Woven or printed labels with size, care instructions and your brand.
