Hospital bed fitted sheets that stay put through the shift
Hospital bed fitted sheets are elasticised bottom sheets cut to hospital mattress dimensions. International Linens weaves, finishes and stitches them in its own units in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and supplies them in bulk to hospitals, healthcare distributors and laundry services, mainly in the United States.
Fitted sheets for hospital beds have a harder life than any retail sheet. They are changed daily, washed at high temperature with bleach, pulled through ironers and stretched over mattresses that articulate several times a day. Ours are built for that: a fabric woven in-house for strength and whiteness, all-round elastic that holds the corner, and a pocket depth matched to your mattress so the sheet fits first time and stays tight through patient movement.
Which fitted sheet size fits a hospital bed?
A standard hospital mattress measures 36 inches wide by 80 inches long and 6 to 7 inches deep, so the most common hospital fitted sheet is 36 x 80 x 7 or 36 x 84 x 7. Pressure-relief and low-air-loss mattresses are deeper and take a 36 x 84 x 15 pocket. Bariatric beds need 54 or 60 inch widths. These are our regular sizes; any other dimension is cut to your bed specification.
| Bed type | Fitted sheet size (W x L x pocket, inches) |
|---|---|
| Standard hospital bed | 36 x 80 x 7, 36 x 84 x 7, 39 x 75 x 7 |
| Deep or pressure-relief mattress | 36 x 84 x 15, 39 x 75 x 12 |
| Stretcher and transport | 30 x 75 x 6 |
| Bariatric bed, 54 inch | 54 x 80 x 12, 54 x 80 x 14, 54 x 80 x 15 |
| Bariatric bed, 60 inch | 60 x 80 x 12, 60 x 80 x 15 |
Twin and twin XL sheets are often tried as fitted sheets for hospital beds and usually fail: a twin is 39 inches wide, so the extra fabric bunches, and the pocket is rarely deep enough to hold when the head of the bed is raised. A purpose-cut hospital bed fitted sheet solves both problems. For the extra-wide range see bariatric bed sheets.

T-130 and T-150 cotton/polyester are the workhorse hospital sheets for high-turnover wards and laundries. T-180 gives a smoother hand for premium patient linens and long-term care. All qualities are bleached and finished under our OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certificate, the class defined for baby articles, so the fabric has been tested for harmful substances to a limit stricter than a hospital tender is likely to ask for.
Construction details
- All-round elastic stitched into the hem so the sheet grips the whole mattress edge, not just the corners.
- Pocket depth to specification, from 6 to 15 inches, so the sheet stays on when the bed is raised.
- Reinforced corner seams for repeated stripping and re-making.
- Colour coding by size or ward on request, and printed or woven care labels to your program.
- Hospital bed fitted bottom sheets can be paired with matching flat top sheets and draw sheets from the same fabric lot.
Woven or knitted?
Woven fitted sheets are the standard choice: crisp, easy to iron and economical over a long wash life. Knitted fitted sheets stretch to fit pressure-relief mattresses and are quicker to make up, at a higher price per piece. Many facilities run both. See our knitted fitted sheets for hospitals if you need the stretch version.
Made in-house, quality checked before packing
Every piece is made in our own units in Faisalabad, Pakistan: fabric woven or knitted in-house, bleached and finished under an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified process, then cut, stitched and inspected against an agreed AQL before packing. Sampling comes first; approved samples stay on file so repeat containers match. We have manufactured institutional linens since 2004 and hold ISO 9001:2015, SEDEX SMETA and C-TPAT credentials, listed with certificate numbers on our certifications page.

Frequently asked questions
What size fitted sheet fits a hospital bed?
Most hospital beds take a 36 x 80 x 7 or 36 x 84 x 7 fitted sheet. Deep mattresses need a 15 inch pocket (36 x 84 x 15) and bariatric beds need 54 x 80 or 60 x 80 sheets. Measure the mattress width, length and depth and we will cut to it.
Do twin sheets fit a hospital bed?
Rarely well. Twin sheets are 39 inches wide with a shallow pocket, so they bunch and slip when the bed articulates. A hospital bed fitted sheet is cut to 36 inches with all-round elastic and the right pocket depth.
What are hospital fitted sheets made of?
Usually a cotton/polyester blend in T-130 to T-180, which survives hot washing and bleach and dries quickly. We also make CVC and 100% cotton qualities, and knitted jersey stretch sheets.
What does 36 x 84 x 15 mean?
Width 36 inches, length 84 inches, pocket depth 15 inches. The pocket is the vertical part of the sheet that wraps the mattress side.
What is the minimum order?
We supply by the carton, pallet or container. Tell us the sizes and quantities and we will confirm the MOQ per size and a trial quantity for a first order.
Can you make coloured or colour-coded fitted sheets?
Yes. Blue, green, yellow and navy are regular colours and custom shades can be dyed for ward or size coding, alongside standard white.
