Knitted fitted sheets are jersey stretch bottom sheets for hospital and care-home mattresses of varying depth. International Linens knits the fabric in its own knitting division in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and stitches the sheets in bulk for hospitals, healthcare distributors and laundries.

Woven sheets are cut to one pocket depth. Knitted healthcare bedding stretches, so one sheet fits a 6 inch foam mattress and a 10 inch pressure-relief mattress equally well, makes up faster and stays smooth under the patient. That is why knitted stretch sheets have become standard in long-term care and on air and alternating-pressure mattresses.

Knit weights and constructions

Because we knit in-house we can set the weight and construction rather than buy what is available. Single jersey is the everyday choice; interlock is heavier and more opaque; plated and Lycra constructions add recovery so the sheet snaps back after stretching. Weights run from 13 oz for a light, quick-drying sheet to 25 oz for maximum durability.

Knitted or woven?

Knitted fitted sheets cost more per piece than woven but fit a wider range of mattresses, need no ironing and are gentler on fragile skin. Woven sheets are crisper, cheaper and easier to fold on an ironer line. Many facilities use knitted sheets on specialty mattresses and woven sheets on standard beds; both come off our lines in the same colours so the ward looks consistent. Made in-house, quality checked before packing

Every piece is made in our own units in Faisalabad, Pakistan: fabric woven or knitted in-house, bleached and finished under an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certified process, then cut, stitched and inspected against an agreed AQL before packing. Sampling comes first; approved samples stay on file so repeat containers match. We have manufactured institutional textiles since 2004 and hold ISO 9001:2015, SEDEX SMETA and C-TPAT credentials, listed with certificate numbers on our certifications page.

Frequently asked questions

What are knitted fitted sheets used for in hospitals?

Mainly on pressure-relief, air and alternating-pressure mattresses where depth changes, and in long-term care where beds are made often. The jersey stretches to the mattress and stays smooth under the patient.

What weight should a hospital knitted sheet be?

Most programs use 15 to 22 oz. Lighter knits dry faster; heavier knits last longer. We knit from 13 to 25 oz, so the choice depends on your laundry and budget.

Do knitted fitted sheets shrink?

All knits move a little in the first washes, which is why we build shrinkage into the cut size and pre-finish the fabric. Approved samples are wash-tested before bulk.

Can knitted sheets be made in bariatric sizes?

Yes. Standard sizes are 36 x 80 x 7 to 39 x 75 x 12, and 54 and 60 inch widths are knitted on request.
